Smokers in Sefton are being encouraged to kick their habit for this years ‘No Smoking Day’, Wednesday 9 March.
Sefton SUPPORT, the local NHS Stop Smoking Service, is supporting the British Heart Foundation’s campaign to help smokers quit by creating a supportive environment and highlighting the help that is available.
Smoking increases the risk of developing more than 50 serious health conditions such as cancer, heart disease and strokes; and is one of the biggest causes of death and illness in the UK. Since it’s inception in 2001, Sefton SUPPORT have helped thousands of local residents to quit smoking and live longer, healthier lives.
No Smoking Day in Sefton is aiming to inspire smokers to set their quit date, stub out their last cigarette and access the available across the borough. According to Public Health England smokers are four times more likely to quit for good with the advice, support and medication on offer at NHS Stop Smoking Services.
Sefton SUPPORT offer drop-in sessions across the borough, six days a week. No appointment is needed and clients can receive free one to one support from one of the team’s expert advisers and nurses.
Smokers are asked to call Healthy Sefton on 0300 100 1000 to get started and to find out the times and venues of their local stop smoking clinic.
The team will also be on hand at the May Logan Health Centre in Bootle, on No Smoking Day, between 9am and 12pm. So why not make 9th March 2016 the day you kick the habit for good!
