People First Merseyside FREE Training Course for Young People with Learning Disabilities (starting 15th April)

People First Merseyside have funding from the Big Lottery to run FREE training courses and support young People with Learning Disabilities aged 18-30 in Sefton.

“Our Project is called Road Ahead Training and Skills for Life. We run 2 training courses each year which are developed and delivered by other young people with learning disabilities. We have 12 Places available on each course. 

Once people have attended the training they then have an opportunity to join our group and become a trainer themselves As well as doing training other young people on the project attend meetings, speak up for themselves, work in our office on the computers, do presentations, journals, plan events and outings for all the group. We have a really great time supporting and learning from each other “

The 8 week training course will take place in

Community Learning Centre
Cambridge Road
L21 1EZ

Starting on Friday 15th April and finishing on  Friday 3rd June 2016

The aims of our project are to:

  • Improve their self esteem and self confidence
  • Do more things in the community
  • Be happier and healthier in their life

Some of the things that the people said about the last course were:

  • “I stood up in front of everyone and talked.”
  • “It was great fun.  I loved the giant Jenga game.”
  • “We made a great animation about our future – it was boss.”
  • “I’ve made lots of new friends.”
  • “I am going to be a trainer on the next course.”
