Crosby runners launch Moorside4Action fundraiser for UK children’s charity Action Medical Research

A GROUP of friends from a Crosby running club are taking on the ultimate challenge after signing up for the London Marathon.

The four pals, who run in Moorside Park, are hoping to raise £4,500 for UK-wide children’s charity Action Medical Research.

Jim Hicks, Elizabeth Van Duyvenbode, Chris Beasley and Sarah Brewster, who are members of the Moorside Park Run Club, will be joining the country’s biggest race on Sunday, April 23.

To help hit their fundraising target, they plan to hold a number of charity events leading up to the marathon, including a race night in March.

Dubbed Moorside4Action, the team has already secured support from local businesses, including Champion newspaper, Caloo, Tides bar and restaurant No.55, Liverpool FC stewards, Pioneer Fitness, Caz’s Kitchen, Fernland Engineering LTD, Home Handbook Sefton, Ferndale Lodge and Friends of Moorside Park.

They said: “Being parents, and having friends and family with children, means that running and raising money for Action Medical Research was an easy choice for the four of us to make. Not only is our aim to raise as much money as possible, but we also want to inspire people to realise that anything is possible!”

For 65 years, Action Medical Research has helped pioneer treatments and ways to prevent disease that have benefited millions of people in the UK and across the world.
