Southport College and KGV have been announced as the main event sponsors for this year’s Southport Colour Blast.
The event partnership builds on existing links between the further education organisations and the town’s local sight loss charity, Galloway’s Society for the Blind.
Anna Eddowes-Scott, Fundraiser for Galloway’s and Colour Blast organiser, commented: “Last year, we were overwhelmed with the response from the local community to our first ever Southport Colour Blast and we are delighted to announce that Southport College and King George V College have now come on board as our main event sponsors for 2017.
“Their support of the Colour Blast will allow us to grow this year’s event and help us to raise even more money, which can then be put to good use in supporting blind and partially sighted people within the local community.
“The Colour Blast is a great way for local organisations, such as Southport College and King George V College, to not only raise their profile but to also show their commitment towards making Southport a better place to live, work and play for all!
“We still have a few corporate sponsorship opportunities left for this year’s event and would encourage local companies to get in touch with us to find out how they can get involved and show their support.”
Elizabeth Rushton, Head of Marketing for Southport College, said: “Both colleges are committed to supporting local and national charities and our staff and students are looking forward to getting involved with the event.”
Last year, 400 runners took part in the first ever Southport Colour Blast, raising £10,000 towards the vital services that Galloway’s Society for the Blind provide for those living with sight loss. Each year the Wright Street based charity must raise £1 million to help those affected by the devastation of sight loss.
