‘Prevent’ 

Tuesday 7th November 2017 
Info: This short masterclass will briefly cover: Government Counter Terrorism strategy known as CONTEST; Threat levels; Channel – this is a safeguarding initiative;
Merseyside terrorism arrest examples; Conviction DVD – a true story of a vulnerable
individual radicalised via the internet and now imprisoned for terrorism offences.

Suicide Prevention Awareness

Thursday 23rd November 2017 
Info: After the session we anticipate attendees will be able to: Identify signs that might
suggest someone is thinking about suicide; Recognise risk and identify key risk factors; List key support services for people who feel suicidal; Have increased confidence to ask direct questions about suicide.

Mental Health First Aid Training

Tuesday 28th & Wednesday 29th November 2017 (Two day training)
Info:  The purpose of this training is to equip participants who may come in contact with people experiencing poor mental health with the ability to: Spot the early signs of a mental health problem; Feel confident helping someone experiencing a problem; Provide help on a first aid basis; Help prevent someone from hurting themselves or others; Help stop a mental illness from getting worse; Help someone recover faster; Guide someone towards the right support; Reduce the stigma of mental health problems; Participants who access this training will also benefit personally from the course as they will be able to use their increased knowledge and awareness to look after their own mental health.

Making Every Contact Count Level 1

Thursday 7th December 2017
Info: Making Every Contact Count’s (MECC) aim is to maximize the opportunities front line workers have to increase the number of healthy chats in Sefton. We will equip
attendees to do this by providing an overview of the health and wellbeing of the Sefton
population; increase knowledge about the key health messages; highlight what support services are available and what they provide; introduce the skills to have a healthy chat; recognize the opportunities to have a healthy chat; use the 3A’s to deliver a healthy chat in Sefton.

Debt & Mental Health Masterclass

Date: Thursday 14th December 2017

One in four adults will directly experience a mental health problem during their lifetime and one in four people who have a mental health problem are also in debt.

Debt may be a cause and a consequence of mental health problems, the number of debts source of debts are key correlatives of suicidal ideation. This has led to calls from The Royal College of Psychiatrists to support a campaign for money advisers including insolvency practitioners to be fully aware of the affect of debt on mental health and they are promoting both Debt awareness training in conjunction with Mental Health First Aid (MHFA).
