Serious Case Review

Cumbria Local Safeguarding Children Board has published the report of the serious case review (SCR) into two children who were exposed to sexual abuse and “chronic and extreme” neglect for six years before they were taken into local authority care. Both children were the subject of child protection plans under the category of sexual abuse. When the category of harm changed from sexual abuse to neglect, the sexual abuse was no longer explicit within the child protection plans and it became almost ‘hidden’ from practitioners.
