Active Sefton in partnership with Sport England are looking at improving Sefton’s swimming offer. We will be looking at our existing swimming pools (Bootle Leisure Centre, Meadows and Dunes Splashworld) with a view to improving facilities and activities, in order to increase participation across all ages and abilities.
Sefton are one of 12 Local Authorities across the country to be allocated funding to make such changes as part of a Sport England Pilot. Key to this is extensive consultation with local residents (user and non-users) which will enable us to collate information and opinion regarding the current services around swimming in Sefton and improvements that could be made. The outcome of the consultation will influence Sport England funding which will enable us to potentially renovate existing facilities and revamp current and new services.
The aim is to gain feedback regarding the Councils current swimming provision and insight into what would attract current non users into Active Sefton facilities.
The results from this consultation will enable Active Sefton to prioritise areas for improvement and develop new opportunities.
- To improve the existing swimming offer (both facilities and programmes)
- To attract more people to participate in swimming activities
- To increase the Health & Wellbeing of residents
All questionnaires will be anonymous – except for those who want to take part in further focus groups. No information will be disclosed to others outside of those involved in the project. No personal details will be disclosed as part of the results and subsequent funding bid to Sport England.
Full details of the consultation and subsequent swimming activity will be shared and a full marketing and communications plan will be implemented.
