The coronavirus pandemic is a disastrous event that is affecting people everywhere in many different ways. Isolation and lockdown will have caused loneliness, poor mental wellbeing, income loss and higher household bills. Such traumatic events requires a compassionate response from communities to enable families to cope with the challenges they face.
As a result, Sefton CVS have set up a small pilot project called the Uplift Service to support families in Maghull and Lydiate experiencing significant financial problems due to redundancy and / or loss of income. The Uplift Service will, over a 5 week period, provide support towards grocery bills, upcoming school uniform costs and other low level unexpected household costs such as replacement of broken kettles or toasters. The project will signpost families to access services and organisations who may be able to provide ongoing support.
