Nominations now open for our Citizens 4 Good Summer event

Nominations are now open for Citizens 4 Good’s summer event. Taking place in Maghull on Monday 8 July, Citizens 4 Good is a joint initiative from Sefton Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) and the Mayor of Sefton’s Office and recognises local people for good deeds, kindness and support that they provide to other members of the community.

This year, however, is a little bit special. 2024 is the year the borough of Sefton and Sefton CVS turns 50 and to celebrate we want to recognise 50 outstanding citizens across our three Citizens 4 Good events. This will be part of Sefton 4 Good’s 50 for 50 campaign, which aims to bring together local communities through community-centric events across the borough, encouraging participation in volunteering opportunities.

“With the borough of Sefton and Sefton CVS turning 50 this year we wanted to celebrate the unsung heroes in the area.” Said event organiser Lauren Jones.

“To be able to reach our target of 50, we need to hear from you! Is there someone in your locality that makes a big difference to the community or group you attend? Is there a neighbour that goes above and beyond to help others? Do you know someone who lives in Sefton that has raised outstanding amounts of money for charity or had a positive impact on a cause that goes beyond our borough’s borders? If so then nominate them for a Citizen 4 Good award.”

The event will be attended by the Mayor of Sefton, Councillor June Burns who will present nominees with a certificate of thanks and recognition.

Previous recipients include a group from Formby who’ve driven humanitarian aid to Ukraine, refugees who have contributed positively to the Sefton community, Scout and Girlguiding leaders and the founders of a community running group.

Members of the public can nominate by going to the Sefton 4 Good website and filling out the form.
