Made in Bootle: The Bootle28 Programme

Bootle has submitted a bold, confident and community‑driven bid to become UK Town of Culture 2028. The proposal—Bootle28— is a six‑month cultural programme that will transform perceptions, support young people, boost local pride, and unlock economic opportunity.

The Bootle28 Programme

Bootle-icious – has three strands inspired by our proud town motto creating experiences and moments that resonate with all ages, reach every household, and bring visitors from across the UK.

  • Look Back – memories of the town reimagined – community groups and leading artists combine with extraordinary effect
  • Look Around  – shining a spotlight on the now with major commissions from Chila Burman and Jamie Caragher alongside children and young people
  • Look to The Future – a window into Bootle 2040 – 80 years of pent up creativity and ambition pouring out of a town that will step out from the shadows onto a national stage.

A key part of the Town of Culture bid is Bootle’s story — and the most powerful stories come from the people who live them.

We’d love to hear your Bootle moments: funny memories, proud snapshots, surprising facts or the little things that make this place home.

Your voices will help shape a bid that’s real, rooted and full of the spirit that makes Bootle unmistakably Bootle:

Share your story here and help tell it together.

Bootle28 will boost wellbeing, create jobs, grow aspirations and widen access to creative learning.

Residents, young people, creatives and businesses shaped the bid. A Bootle People’s Panel and Next Gen Bootle will guide decisions.
