Pride In Place: Bootle South – Apply now to join the Neighbourhood Board

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Bootle South’s Pride in Place Independent Neighbourhood Board.
Bootle South is one of 244 neighbourhoods participating in the Government’s Pride in Place programme, an ambitious long‑term initiative designed to empower residents to shape the future of their community. The programme places local voices at its core, aiming to strengthen community pride, regenerate neighbourhoods and develop thriving, safe and welcoming places to live.

We are seeking people with a real, personal connection to the Bootle South area to join the independent Neighbourhood Board, which will be responsible for deciding how Pride in Place funding will be invested in the local area, based on the wants and needs of the local community.
Alongside the independent Chair, MP and local councillors, Board members will help shape a shared vision and lead positive, meaningful change for Bootle South residents.
Role Details:
- Salary: Unpaid voluntary role (reasonable expenses reimbursed)
- Location: South Bootle area
- Working Pattern: Flexible hours
- Hours: Frequency of Board meetings to be confirmed – more frequent in early planning stages (2026) – reducing to quarterly (TBC) from year-2. Meetings are likely to be 2 hours in duration, plus time to prepare and follow-up
- DBS check required: No
You can be new to this kind of work and don’t need to have experience of sitting on other Boards, as training and support will be provided. What matters most is a commitment to influencing and seeing through positive change to improve your community.
The Neighbourhood Board will have a broad range of voices and perspectives, ensuring that it is representative of the community.
Membership is open anyone with a strong connection to the area, including those who live, work, campaign, volunteer, or lead community and faith groups within the area. As well as local residents and business, we welcome applications from people from a local sport, arts, cultural or heritage organisations, and public agencies such as a local school or health care provider.
We particularly welcome applications from young adults, as well as older residents, people from diverse ethnic backgrounds, people with experience of disability and the care system, or any other underrepresented group.
All applications are encouraged, regardless of background or experience, as training and support will be provided.
To make the role accessible to all, expenses, including travel, childcare, and other forms of support will be considered to support your involvement board activity.
