Sefton Community Lottery Launches Today – Residents Invited to Support Local Good Causes!

Today marks the official launch of the Sefton Community Lottery, a new initiative giving residents the chance to support local good causes while playing a weekly lottery with the opportunity to win exciting prizes.

Tickets go on sale from today, Tuesday 16 June, and local people are being encouraged to get involved, with 60% of every £1 ticket going directly to support voluntary, community and faith (VCF) organisations and community initiatives across Sefton.

The launch coincides with a special Good Cause event taken place today at The Lake House in Crosby, where a wide range of local organisations from across Sefton will be signing up to take part in the lottery and begin raising much-needed funds for their work in the community.

The first weekly draw will take place on Saturday 4 July 2026, giving players the chance to win prizes of up to £25,000. Alongside the main prize, the launch will also feature a special “Super Draw”, offering tickets to a range of local Sefton events, including:

  • Salt and Tar: 2x General Admission Tickets – Billy Ocean, Thursday 13 August 2026
  • Salt and Tar: 2x General Admission Tickets – The Waterboys, Friday 14 August 2026

Supporting Local Communities

The Sefton Community Lottery provides a simple, sustainable way for local organisations to raise unrestricted funds, helping them continue vital work that supports residents, strengthens communities and delivers essential services across the borough.

Angela White, Chief Executive of Sefton CVS commented:

“Voluntary, community and faith organisations are at the heart of our communities. Every day, they deliver vital support, bring people together and make a real difference to residents’ lives locally across Sefton.

The Sefton Community Lottery is a fantastic way for residents to show their support. By simply buying a ticket, they are directly helping local good causes to continue and grow their work. We encourage everyone to get involved and support the organisations that matter most to them.”

Councillor Liz Dowd, Cabinet Member for Communities and Partnership Engagement at Sefton Council, said:

“The Sefton Community Lottery is a great way for people to support projects that benefit local people and neighbourhoods, while at the same time being in with a chance of winning a major cash prize of up to £25k, or tickets to some of the exciting events coming up in Sefton this summer.

“It’s just £1 per week per ticket and there’s a 1 in 50 chance of winning, which is better odds than the National Lottery. It could be you but it’s definitely Sefton.”
