The Service works with partners to tackle discrimination and inequalities in the way health and social care services are delivered.
The main aims of the project are to improve access to mainstream health and wellbeing services for DEBs communities and other under-represented groups within Sefton, and to tackle the stigma associated with mental health issues by raising mental health literacy among residents and employees in the area.
Activities and Initiatives
To challenge inequality and promote inclusion, the service facilitates, undertakes, and delivers activities and initiatives in partnership within the local community and service providers. This is in addition to directly working with individuals and agencies to ensure that members of the DEBs community can access the support and services they need.
Project Outcomes
The Community Development Service has had significant success with supporting members of DEBs communities with health and wellbeing issues as well as financial appeals and claims.
The service has been awarded a prestigious National Association of Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) Heart of the Community Award for its success in representing DEBs communities.
