Is this service for me?
After experiencing a traumatic or distressing event it is normal to feel a range of emotions. Everybody reacts in different ways and people may take days, weeks or months to recover. People that have heard traumatic stories and images or witnessed content and material relating to a traumatic event can also be affected in a similar way.
If someone is still experiencing distress with negative emotions that are overwhelming, that is not improving after a month, they may wish to access professional help.
If you are still distressed by the signs and symptoms below it may be worth thinking about getting some help:
- Feeling upset and fearful
- Finding it difficult to stop thinking about the incident
- Having nightmares
- Feeling more irritable
- Feeling more jumpy
- Struggling to work or look after your home and family
- Starting to have relationship difficulties
- Using drugs or drinking alcohol more than usual
- Acting very differently to before the trauma
- Struggling to enjoy life
You’re not alone. Everyone’s experience is different- that’s why we offer support that fits your needs. Whatever your age, background, or situation, we’re here. Whether you’re struggling emotionally, need someone to talk to, or want to find local services that can help — talk to us.
