Southport Community Safety and Building Security Grants Programme
As part of the Southport Recovery Programme, Sefton CVS in partnership with Sefton Council are providing capital grants of up to £5,000 to support VCF organisations based in and supporting residents of Southport for essential building security improvements, ensuring safe and welcoming community spaces.
Funding Criteria
The fund can only be used for improving the security requirements of community building to provide a safe and secure environment for the local community or community of interest.
Applicants fund must agree for a building security assessment to be carried out to assess the necessary essential work to be completed.
Eligible Organisations
Voluntary and Community and Faith Sector Organisations including:
- – Registered charities, including charitable incorporated organisations (CIO’s)
- – Constituted organisations and non-registered charities
- – Community interest companies (CIC’s) limited by guarantee and community benefit organisations (where there is a minimum of three unrelated directors)
- – Faith based groups
Organisations must be based in Southport and supporting local residents.
What can be funded?
The requirement is that the grant will contribute to building security ensuring a safe and welcoming community space. Examples of what the grant can be used are:
Electronic Security:
- – CCTV system (number of cameras)
- – Security lighting (motion-activated)
- – Burglar alarm system
- – Access control (keypads/fobs/intercoms)
- – Emergency communication systems
- – Remote monitoring equipment
- – Improved external lighting
Physical Security:
- – Security doors and reinforced entry points
- – Window security (film/grilles/laminated glass)
- – Secure storage (safes/lockable cabinets)
- – Perimeter fencing and gates
- – Shutters or roller doors
Community Safety Training:
- – Understanding and Identifying personal risk
- – Knife Crime Awareness
- – Domestic Abuse Awareness
- – Challenging Hate Crime
Not eligible under this programme are:
- – Expenditure not considered to support security improvements or non-capital expenditure
- – Grants that are considered to be revenue based e.g. staffing or ongoing such as a contribution to running costs
- – Statutory bodies, companies limited by shares, NHS organisations/GP practices.
- – Start-up costs for new organisations
- – Organisations where their registered or operating address is outside of Southport area.
- – Retrospective funding: costs that have already been incurred.
- – General building work or repairs
