Day of Reflection 2024 in partnership with Marie Curie

On Sunday 3rd March 2024, Marie Curie is bringing the nation together for the fourth Day of Reflection.

The need for communities across the UK to come together to commemorate those who died during the pandemic was affirmed by the Commission on COVID Commemoration, which recommended a UK-wide day dedicated to reflection on those we lost.

The Day of Reflection offers an opportunity to remember family, friends, neighbours and colleagues. It’s a special moment to support everyone who has been bereaved through their grief, and to connect us all with the communities around us. On the day, we’re pausing to pay tribute to those close to us who have died, particularly during the pandemic, when many people were unable to properly grieve their loved ones.

It is vital that we take this opportunity to bring together families, communities, organisations, groups and schools to support each other. Community events will be taking place across the country, and Marie Currie are also asking people to share the name of a loved one they’re remembering on the day.

We’re asking community groups and organisation across Sefton to support the Day of Reflection to make this the most memorable one yet. There are a number of ways in which you and your community can get involved:

  • Join the Moment of Silence at midday on Sunday 3 March 2024.
  • Encourage involvement by signposting staff, clients and your local community to the Day of Reflection website and share your support on social media during the day.
  • Host an event or reflective activity for colleagues or the local community and provide them the resources enabling them to take part.
  • Share your support and activities on social media using #DayofReflection and tagging @seftoncvs & @mariecurieuk
  • Share the name of the person or people you are remembering on social media using #DayOfReflection and tagging @mariecurieuk

There is a range of resources and toolkits provided by Marie Curie, including social media assets, available to support your activities for the day. You can download them here: dayofreflection.org.uk/resources
