Volunteer Heritage Researchers required for Sefton at 50, Hearts of Gold Project!
We are looking for friendly people who are interested in finding out more about their local area. Do you have a couple of hours a week to spare? Are you interested in learning more about your local area and heritage in South Sefton?
We are looking for volunteers from all of Sefton’s many communities to help us to research and celebrate Sefton’s local heroes, special places and memorable events. You do not need any previous experience to volunteer with us.
As a Volunteer Researcher you will help us to research, plan and design a heritage trail in South Sefton to celebrate Sefton’s people, places and memorable events as part of the borough’s 50 year (1974-2024) golden anniversary activities.
We warmly welcome applications from members of Sefton’s diverse communities to tell us about their hidden heroes and special places – this project champions inclusion and belonging and aims to celebrate Sefton’s rich heritage and diversity.
This role is a great way to meet new people, develop and share your communication, organisation and research skills, and learn more about your local community.
No experience is required for this role you will be guided and supported by Helen, the Heritage Officer. You will need:
• An interest in Sefton
• An interest and curiosity about heritage in Sefton
• A willingness to undertake training and take part in team working to explore heritage trails and other information regarding the heritage of Sefton.
There are 8 sessions for Volunteer Researchers that will take place on Wednesday afternoons from April to June, but we are open to being flexible so if you don’t think you can get to all the sessions or need to leave earlier so just contact us for a chat to see how we can help you be involved.
Once you have contacted us Helen will get in touch with you to tell you more about the role and invite you for an informal interview.
If you would like more information, please get in touch with Helen via heritage@seftoncvs.org.uk. We are excited to hear from you!
