Would you like to volunteer at a community hub in Birkdale?

Work started five years ago on a project to transform the former Station Masters House at Birkdale Railway Station into a multi-function community hub – and the projects is now ‘just a few months away from opening!’

Members of the Birkdale Community Hub and Library group plan to transform the building into a small library and community hub with meeting rooms, plus computer and media facilities. They will use the venue to provide access to computers and the internet within the newly-renovated building as well as running classes in computing and other computer based activities.

The team at St. Joseph’s Hospice have thanked their ‘incredible team’ ahead of Volunteers Week.

Chiefs at the Thornton hospice have sent a special thank you card to all of its volunteers, many of whom are staying safely at home and are really missing their roles at the hospice.

This week, the hospice has also sent long service badges to those volunteers who have reached key milestones. The badges would usually be awarded in person at the hospice’s annual Volunteers’ Evening in July but, sadly, this year’s event has had to be cancelled to protect volunteers and comply with social distancing.

Chiefs at a sight loss charity have thanked their volunteers who have ‘continued to provide support to blind and visually impaired people across Lancashire and Sefton’ during the pandemic.

Sight loss charity Galloway’s revealed that their volunteers have been rallying around the community even while face-to-face activity has temporarily been suspended.
