AA is a voluntary fellowship of men and women who are alcoholics and who help each other to achieve and maintain sobriety by sharing experiences and giving mutual support. Members are helped to achieve sobriety by staying away from drink, one day at a time. Group meetings help to maintain this and each member follows a programme of Twelve Steps to recovery. Self-honesty amongst members is fundamental and anonymity preserved.

AA is concerned solely with the personal recovery and continued sobriety of individual alcoholics who turn to the Fellowship for help. Alcoholics Anonymous does not engage in the fields of alcoholism research, medical or psychiatric treatment, education, or advocacy in any form, although members may participate in such activities as individuals. The Fellowship has adopted a policy of "cooperation but not affiliation" with other organisations concerned with the problem of alcoholism. Traditionally, Alcoholics Anonymous does not accept or seek financial support from outside sources, and members preserve personal anonymity in print and broadcast media and otherwise at the public level.

Our volunteers are people from a wide variety of backgrounds and vary in age but all are either parents or have parenting experience. They are carefully selected for their friendliness and understanding, and are appropriately approved and all attend a course of preparation before being linked with families. Each volunteer is asked to visit a family once a week for a couple of hours. Home-Start’s volunteers work alongside families to give compassionate and confidential support, tailored to each family.

Living a healthy life doesn't mean making huge alterations. But making a change can make you feel good about yourself. Living Well Sefton is a FREE service with a focus on supporting people with issues that may be affecting their health and wellbeing. It is a collaboration of various Sefton organisations which have the expertise and knowledge to share with you. As part of the service, there are a number of Living Well Mentors to talk to and they work with you on a one-to-one basis to identify health areas to see where small tweaks can be made but may have a big impact on improving your health.

There are also a number of tumour specific support groups that we can refer people to. We run the ‘HOPE Course' (Help Overcoming Problems Effectively) three times per year, to help people manage the day to day impact cancer has on their lives and rediscover their strengths after treatment ends. We organise Health & Wellbeing Events three times a year, to support people living with and beyond cancer to find out about all the support which is available to them locally and to support self-management. We also offer counselling through the Centre. You can follow centre events and courses on our centre website

We’re here, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure. Samaritans is not only for the moment of crisis, we’re taking action to prevent the crisis. We give people ways to cope and the skills to be there for others. And we encourage, promote and celebrate those moments of connection between people that can save lives. We offer listening and support to people and communities in times of need. In prisons, schools, hospitals and on the rail network, Samaritans are working with people who are going through a difficult time and training others to do the same. Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide. That’s why we work tirelessly to reach more people and make suicide prevention a priority.

We campaign to eliminate ‘honour’-based abuse and harmful practices and provide life-saving services to those at risk, regardless of age, culture, sexuality or gender. Established in 2010, we are a leading charity tackling culturally-specific abuse in the UK, including forced marriage and female genital mutilation. We advocate for those who need a voice and offer a completely confidential and non-judgemental service.
