Centre Manager (part time)

Salary: £13,104 (£26,306 FTE)
Hours: 18 hours (0.5) actual hours / days flexible to suit running of the centre

This is a diverse role requiring a range of skills and qualities to ensure the long-term sustainability of Waterloo Community Centre. The Centre is at the heart of the community and delivers services and activities beyond the hall hires. The Centre includes a community kitchen which operates once a week and also a cycle project which operates several times a week.

This position requires an enthusiastic, creative individual to support the successful operation of the Centre and any projects run by Waterloo Community Association. You will have the required drive, passion and determination to help the Association deliver specific outputs, maximising the use of the Centre to achieve a range of outcomes for the local community. You will be able to demonstrate management experience and have a successful track record delivering quality outputs. Relevant experience of the voluntary/community development sectors would be beneficial. Supporting the development of sustainable income streams through creative use of the available space is also a requirement of the post.

Purpose of the Job
The main purpose of the Centre Manager is to maximise the use of the Centre through increasing hall bookings and developing of new activities. Core duties include:

  • To monitor and promote use and activity programmes and recruit other groups to hire the facilities, aiming for high occupancy levels during weekdays, evenings and weekends
  • To plan and deliver new income-generating activities to support the Centre
  • To work with trustees to research, compile and complete applications for local and national funding
  • To meet regularly with customers to discuss their needs and feedback
  • To maintain current partnerships and seek new partnerships with other local organisations
  • To oversee the Centre’s upkeep and maintenance
  • To administer and control the financial activities of the charity

Job Description

Caretaker (part time)

Salary: £12 per hour
Hours: 10 hours, actual days / hours flexible to suit running of the centre

Main Purpose of the Job

To ensure that the premises are:

  • cleaned and tidy
  • well maintained and safe to use
  • secure at all times
  • provided with appropriate caretaker support and site supervision to ensure that the premises are safe, welcoming and ready for use by staff and users

Shortlisting will take place on Monday 5 August 2024, those invited for interview will be contacted no later than Tuesday 6 August 2024.

Interviews will be held on Monday 12 August 2024 at the Centre.
